Grant leads to new WREN signs in West Woburn news@woburnonline.com WOBURN - Woburn's WREN group, Woburn Residents Environmental Network, was the winner of an ear mark grant that was proposed by Patrick Natale, D-Woburn, and helped through the system by former Senator Bob Havern.Ý It is through the Department of Conservation and Recreation. WREN had to fill out lots of paper work and decided ahead of time what it was going to do. It came up with the sign idea (WREN member Ed Quinn's idea) that would satisfy both the Conservation and the Recreation parameters of the application WREN tried several different ideas and then Quinn found Yetti Frankel.Ý Yetti does signs for the state.ÝThey are made of Marine plywood, painted and sealed on all sides.Ý After Yetti paints the design on them (she projects an electronic file on the board and then hand paints over it).Ý She then puts 6 coats of waterproof varnish on them. The Granite posts came from Martignetti's and were given to WREN at cost.
