YMCA water park petition continued until May 13 By GORDON VINCENT news@woburnonline.com WOBURN - Citing "a number of issues," the Planning Board continued its deliberations until May 13 for a proposed outdoor water park at the North Suburban YMCA's site on Lexington Street in West Woburn. At the board's most recent regular meeting, Planning Director Edmund Tarallo said the continuance was "needed to determine how this proposal shall proceed." YMCA officials are seeking a special permit from the City Council for a 76-foot by 36-foot water park which will be operated from June through September. The Planning Board is acting in an advisory role, but Tarallo said the petition "may need a new public hearing before the board, and not the City Council." The council is scheduled to open its public hearing at its meeting on Tuesday, May 6. 10 Draper St. - With only five members present, the board continued until May 13 a public hearing to amend a special permit issued in 2004 to Lily Draper St. LLC. The proposed change would eliminate a condition that requires an electronic control gate to be closed except between 6-9 a.m. on weekdays. With members John Cashell and Kevin Donovan absent, attorney Joseph Tarby, representing Lily Draper St. LLC, requested the continuance after noting he would have needed five affirmative votes from the five members who were present. Tyler Street - Approved was a extension until May 15, 2009, for the completion of a subdivision on Tyler Road. The project, which has been in the works for about 8-10 years, is nearing its conclusion, Tarallo said. "There seems to be an attempt to try to complete the development of houses by further re-configuring of the lots," Tarallo said. "The basic work is done." The board also approved an extension until April 30, 2009, for completion of a subdivision at 300 Lexington St. in West Woburn, and established a $142,500 surety for a subdivision on Moreno Drive (166-170 Russell St.) in West Woburn. More continuances - The board granted continuances to the following matters: * Cirone Estates, 4-lot subdivision, until June 30, pending the submission of a peer review. * Seaver Construction, 372 Salem St., 7-lot subdivision, until May 13, at the request of the petitioner. * Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse, rental of moving trucks and accessory storage of commercial vehicles, 15 Commerce Way, until May 13 pending negotiations with a "settlement agreement with the city regarding this property that will have a bearing" on the special permit, Tarallo wrote. * College Street Partners LLC, until May 13 for a 586-vehicle parking garage at 23 Mack Road (aka Rainin Road) in East Woburn, at the request of the petitioner. * Maggie Ann LLC, until May 13 for an increase to 2,286-square-feet in an existing convenience store at 878 Main St. in North Woburn, pending the advice of the city's legal counsel. * Constitution Way, release of surety, until May 13, pending the developer's review "of the concerns that the city has raised over their request to keep the road and utilities private while requesting a certificate of completion," Tarallo wrote. * Coyne Drive, reduction of surety, until May 13, pending an agreement on a "conveyance matter."
